Training - Don Keller

WOW another good run! I excited to see I'm making progress. I decided to run again today mainly because it was over 60* when I got home from work and I'm traveling to South Florida for a couple days. Now I can take a couple days off from running while in Florida and heal my legs. I may take my running shoes just in case it's cold here on Thursday and I can get a run in during the warm day in Florida. I don't want to over do things so I'll see how I feel.

OK, Today I ran 2.21 miles in 23:37 minutes. That's about a 10'41" pace. My pace is down about a minute since I began last week. My weight was 187, so I'm making progress there also.

My goal over the next couple weeks is to decrease my pace to about 10'00" and increase my distance to 3.0 miles. I think I can do this if the weather holds and it doesn't get too cold.

Feeling good and I'l update on Thursday.

Training - Don Keller

Ran today after taking a couple days off during the Thanksgiving holiday. Today's run felt really good, (in fact, I'm really surprised how good I felt durning and after my run). I ran the same route I ran last week but in reverse. After today's run I'm more optimistic about me getting in shape for the relay. I weighed in today at 189 and ran 2.13 miles in about 23:43 minutes. About a 11'07" pace.

It's starting to get cold, so the I really need to get in the best shape I can before it gets too cold to run. I don't think I can run if it's below 45F. Hopefully the better shape I get in the easier it will be.

Training - Don Keller

Started my training on Tuesday and it's obvious I'll need the entire nine months of training to condition myself for the race. I haven't ran on over a year and I'm at an all time high with by weight. (That's not a good thing).

The Starting point:

Tuesday night I weighed in at 195lbs. I went out and ran about a 1.5 miles and it wasn't easy. I can tell I'm really going to have to shed some pounds. Time is not important at this point as I'm just trying to start slow and get my body ready to train.

Wednesday night I weighed in at 192lbs. I ran about 2 miles in 22.5 minutes after work and felt a little better than Tuesday's run. It's still obvious that I'll need to work hard and lose some weight to be successful.

I'll take the next couple of days off from running and let my legs heal. I hope it doesn't get cold for a couple weeks so I can build a base. I don''t like cool weather so it's important to get a base established now so in March I'm not starting from zero.

Today is Thanksgiving and I'll try to push back from the table.

Team PlumbCrazy Hood to Coast

On Monday, November 19th, we received an email from the Hood to Coast staff notifying us we have been accepted to run in the 2008 Hood to Coast relay. This race starts on Mount Hood and continues 194 miles to the Oregon Coast. Each team must complete the relay in about 30 hours or less and most teams consist of 12 runners that run a total of 36 legs in the event.

The committee for Team Plumb Crazy met on Wednesday to start planning the event. We have nine months to train and plan for the race. Some of our members will need all nine month to get ready for this grueling event.

The purpose of this blog is to tract the progress of Team Plumb Crazy as we prepare for the race.
