I went to the gym this morning and had a great workout...then came the RUN...it wasn't pretty by no means. I ran about 1 1/2 miles in about 13 minutes and could not breathe to well after that. This throat bug has me skeptical about tomorrows race. I will be there and I will finish it. I'm just not so sure that I will hit my goal...none the less...I refuse to give up.
Hope that everyone is prepared!

Don Keller - 12/30
The rain finally stopped for me to get my run in today. I ran 4 miles in 42:46 that's a 10'41" pace.
Everyone in bed by 10:00 tomorrow. We have a training 5/10K on Jan 1st. My goal for the race is to run the 3.1 miles at a 10:20 pace. I'll keep you posted.

Sandovals ATC Training
As we near the ATC, I have ran the past two days in a row the equivalent of a 5k. On Friday I ran with Tom and Robb for a total of 3 miles for myself, in 30 minutes time. I'm not to pleased with that, and yesterday I ran 3.5 miles in 31:39 for an average of about 9:02 a mile. I felt really good when I finished. Later on last night my throat got a little scratchy and when I woke up this morning I had a soar throat. I probably will not run today just for one days rest and hit it again tomorrow. Looking forward to the run on Tuesday.
My goal is to finish the ATC 5k in 27 minutes...
Richard...Don...I hope that you two are still training!
Let's keep it moving forward PLUMB CRAZY!

Good Saturday Morning!
Ran 2.5 miles this morning in about 25.27 minutes. That's about a 10'09" pace.
Not the best time of the group... but I'm trying.

David Jones - Phoenix Training Camp 12/27/07
Greetings from beautiful Phoenix AZ. Sounds like there has been quite a bit of running back in the homeland. Great job on the race Richard. I have been eating and drinking everything in sight since we arrived in AZ Xmas night. Weather is great here but a little on the chilly side. Today is a high of about 50 but very windy. Not a cloud in the sky so it is actually pretty good running conditions. I feel pretty good today. I bit off a 6 mile run in 52:38. The 2 mile course I layed out is as flat as Don's pool table so it is very easy running. I'll go ahead and volunteer for all the flat legs in OR. Tomorrow I will try another 6 mile run and then we are off to the Phoenix Zoo. Hope they got their tigers caged up.
Joanna gave me a running magazine for Xmas. Just reading some articles has gotten me pretty excited about keeping up a good training schedule. Maybe one day I will look like those guys in the magazine.
Keep up the good work and I will be back at Sweetwater Creek State Park ready to go in 2008.
Adios!!!!

On the run...Richard "Kip Keno" Goldsmith
Three runs since Va-Hi 5K with the latest one tonight. Each one getting easier than the one before. I suggest another aspect to the Oregon trip. Tours of the Willamette Valley wineries, just south of Portland, and gaining quite a reputation for great Pinot Noirs. Below is a site that promotes this area. Cheers!

Training - Don Keller 12/24 & 12/26
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a person was stirring not even a mouse. So what did I do an hour prior to going to church? That's right, I went dashing through the neighborhood and over the hills I go...... laughing all the way, ha ha ha. (Trying to top Richard's picture).
Ran 3.5 miles in 38.28 minutes. About a 10:59 pace. Little slow but I added some distance and I felt really good during the run. The most amazing thing was that I made it to church with time to spare!
Rained all day on Christmas so I didn't run.
Now for the day after Christmas... I came straight home from work and put on the running gear and headed out in the hood for a quick run. I ran a little different route and it has a few more up hills. I knew I would not be able to run more distance running this route so I focused on time. I ran 2.002 miles in 20:16 minutes. That's a pace of 10.07. That doesn't sound very impressive to you runners, but I'm very happy with it.
Good job Richard. Hope to see you New Years Day.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Well, after that inspirational portrait of Goldsmith, there's no excuse for my lack of running this past two weeks. I have not ran since my last blog, but you can bet I will be running the ATC on New Years day. I know that is will take the full 8 months to run three legs in 24 hours time. I am definitely up for the challenge and look forward to reaching my goal of 7 minute miles by August '08.

Virginia Highlands 5K

Debbie and I and a host of friends ran in the VA-Highlands 5K fun run this past Saturday. Finished in 34 minutes, and despite my appearance at the finish line, paramedics were not called and I actually felt pretty good.
Ike Hammond, the 10 year old son of one of Debbie's best friends, had never trained and had never run in a race before. Well he and his little brother pushed themselves up to the front of the race at the start of the race and lo and behold Ike finished the race in 24 minutes, finishing in second place in his age group. Just another one of life's humbling experiences.
I did catch the running "bug" and have run both days since the race. Debbie has also caught the "bug" and we now have a dual membership to the Atlanta Track Club and are talking about running the ATC 2008 5k/10K commitment run New Year's Day in Cobb County.

David Jones - 12/22/07
I took a couple of days off after my 8 mile day on Wednesday. Saturday afternoon I put in 4 miles around my neighborhood. Time was 35:06. I knew I would not run tomorrow or Xmas Eve so I needed to get a run in. It was cold and rainy but I ran anyway. I am off to Arizona in a couple of days. Hope to get in at least one good run in the desert. Supposed to be warm in Phoenix this week. Yahoo!!!
Keep up the running!!!!!

David Jones - 12/20/07 - 1st Double Run
Don, the heat is definitely on. Tom put the challenge to me yesterday by his running two good long runs in less than 24 hours. I ran my regular 4 miles at Sweetwater Creek State park at lunch yesterday and then I took on the challenge of doing another 4 miles last night. About 8 hours after my first run. My time for this run was 36:08. I have mixed feelings about this. I actually felt pretty good running the second four miles. My time was about two minutes slower than my first 4 miles and my legs are really tired today. But, I feel good about knowing I can do a couple of decent runs in about 8 hours. Still a long way to go before I can handle 3 good runs in a 24 hour period. I truly believe it is going to take all of the 8 months we have left to train to get us all in good enough shape to meet our goal in Oregon and to enjoy it.
Don is off to a good start on his training. Hope everyone else is too.
Go Team Plumb Crazy!!!!!

Thank you David Jones!
David you posting here has put the heat on and I know I need to get my butt in gear and run. So..... Since it was still light out when I got home and around 50 degrees, I decided to put on the running shoes and try to keep up with the Joneses.
Well I can't keep up with the Joneses, but today I ran 3 miles in 32.20 minutes. That's an average pace of 10'45". My goal today was to run three miles and run it in a 10'20" pace. I finished the 3 miles without a problem but was a little slow. I felt really good starting out and the first quarter of my run felt really good. Toward the end of the second quarter I started getting a little stitch in my side and it took half of the third quarter until the cramps went away. The last quarter felt really good again until I stopped. When I stopped I got a little dizzy for a couple minutes but it went away during my warm down. This wasn't my best run, but I still feel made some progress.
Keep the talk up and the pressure on. The only thing that got my butt out running today is knowing that David will be posting again tomorrow. Game on!

Another cold and rainy day in Lithia Springs. Didn't want to go but I made myself go to Sweetwater State Park. Put in 4.1 miles on the blacktop route. Pretty nasty day for running but posted a good sub 8 minute mile for my first mile. Total time for 4.1 miles was 34:38.
Might take a couple of days off and try to get a good long run in this weekend.

Jody Sandoval-Training
I went out for the first time today in two months and I couldn't have picked out a worse time to start back. It was cold and made it very hard for me to breathe. I will be going to the gym unless it warms up again. I ran right at 2 miles today in about 20 minutes. That really is the worst run I've had since the start of the year.
I am 196lbs right now, and more out of shape than I have been in a long time. I will be ready for the race. I am making it my personal gaol to be at 7-8 minute miles consistantly by August next year.
Let's get it going Team Plumb Crazy!!!!!

Training - Don Keller
I Had a pretty good run tonight and felt good during the entire run. I ran 2.5 miles at a 10.34 pace. I didn't run much this week mainly because I'm having trouble getting a schedule set. The last time I ran was last Saturday at Laural park during Matthew's tennis match. I only ran a mile, but I ran it at a fast pace. Probably at about an 8 minute mile but I did have my watch to get the exact time.
I know I need to step up my training program before it gets too cold to run.
