Again, up early at the Y. Raining very hard here, and a bit chilly. Again, no excuses, but I had severe asthma my first 18 years of life or so. I have outgrown it, except for one thing -- running in cold weather - so my options are somewhat limited during the winter months. With that said, went 40 minutes on the eliptycal (sp?) today. I always put it on severe hills, at a strong resistance. Kicked my butt towards the end, but finished strong. Went 6.7 miles. I do hope it translates to outdoors, when the time comes. It is great to see everyone giving it hell, starting this training early, and taking it serious. We all will become better friends and teammates when we do this crazy ass thing in Oregon -- but I for one am pumped to give it everything I can with you guys! Just bought a new pair of Saucony's -- greatest shoes I have ever worn. I am never taking them off.
One last thing -- if there is someone who we feel, or says, that they are not going to be able to compete, I have found a great replacement. Brent Hodges, Corporate PA for Kenny Pipe, has been a runner his whole life. He recently just ran 9 miles, training for the upcoming Music City 1/2 Marathon. He said he would consider it if we asked.
